Each day at 1.30pm we head over to Senorita Ceilia for lunch. She serves up traditional Peruvian dishes which usually consist of meat (chicken, pork etc), rice, beans and salad, so far they have been really tasty and much welcomed after a hard morning teaching the kids English and a few hours in the water surfing.

Yesterday I took the bus down from Mancora to Talara and then onwards to Lobitos in a small combi to meet the rest of the WAVES volunteers.

All going well so far, need to take some pictures and will expand on this post in a few days time.

I cooked for the house last night by candlelight as the electricity got cut off, luckily the cooker is powered by gas! We had a few beers and played cards and then hit the sack.

Teaching and orientation starts tomorrow, should be interesting!

Here are a few pictures from the WAVES house. The place is basic (no hot water, internet and intermittent electricity) but comfortable.

A few pictures that I managed to take between sessions and reef cuts today at Mancora beach, Peru!

Had some nice waves up here in Mancora over the past few days. There is a point break just in front of our hostel. I’ve been riding a longboard and been practice my board walking and a little noseriding.

The reef is super shallow in parts, 1 ft and you’ve got to be pretty careful, already got a nice collection of cuts and scrapes on my feet, arms and back!

Nice sunset tonight, didn’t quite get to the camera in time as I was in the water, but you get the idea.

The local surfers are all over the point, but a friendly with smiles all round!
